Medical : Getting ready for OpenERP 5.0

Hi there !

We just released the development version 0.0.22 of Medical, the health module for OpenERP.

This version is coded with 5.0 in mind (It won't work in 4.x ). You can check it with the latest 5.0 snapshot or with the alpha version.

This version includes new functionality, taking into consideration aspects of family medicine, and Primary Care, such as :

- Patient SES (Socioeconomic Status) information
- Ethnic groups
- Patient occupation

The data model has been revised and optimized, specially the all the relations involving the patient medical encounters / evaluations.

New fields have been added in the patient medical examination.

Treasury Module

Hi there

We have just released at Thymbra the treasury module for OpenERP.

The treasury module keeps track of financial documents ( checks, transfers, coupons, cash ). It's linked to the bank and partner objects.

One can check the status of treasury documents from the Financial Accounting section, or from the partner form.

Direct Marketing Module Released

I'm really proud to announce the first release of the Open ERP Direct Marketing module (DM)

The DM module allows to create, plan and manage direct marketing campaigns.

This release offers the following fonctionnalities :

* Commercial Offers :
- Create Multimedia Commercial Offers
- View a Graphicalreprsesentation of the offer steps
- Create offers from offer models and offer ideas

* Marketing Campaign
- Plan your Marketing Campaign and Commercial Propositions
- Generate the Retro planning (automaticaly creates all the tasks necessary to launch your campaign)
- Assign automatic prices to the items of your commercial propositions
- Auto generate the purchase orders for all the items of the campaign
- Manage Customers Fils, segments and segmentation criteria
- Create campaigns from campaign models
- Manage copywriters, brokers, dealers, addresses deduplicators and cleaners

The module is still in development and is available in the Extra Addons, as well as a profile module : profile_dm.

Now we are working on DTP document generation, items supplying and After-Sales Service.

Technical training / Formación técnica

It's been a long time since my last entry. This is in part because of the commitment to write in two languages and also because this end of year is very, very active.

We have been working on the spanish localization for version 5.0 and I'm glad to say that on my system almost everything is working alright. Some of the functionalities provided by the former localization project (creation of the chart of accounts, with any number of digits based on a template) is now provided by default, so some of the work just means keeping on track with the new developments.

I'm also writing a review of the account_asset module to be published here, but I got stuck in the middle. I hope to finish it soon and also a new account_renumber module that will be very helpful on some countries for the end of the year treatments.

If this doesn't sound enough, I'm also glad to announce our first Technical Training to be held on our offices in Pamplona (northern Spain). You can contact me here for more info if you are interested. There are a few places available.

Han pasado unos cuantos días desde mi última entrada. La exigencia de escribir en dos idiomas es algo que da cierta pereza, además de la cantidad de trabajo que se nos está acumulando a final de año.

Hemos estado trabajando en la localización española para la versión 5.0 y estoy muy satisfecho porque en mi sistema funciona prácticamente todo sin problemas. Todavía hay que validar algunas cuestiones pero esperamos liberar todo en breve. Algunas funcionalidades aportadas por la anterior localización (como la creación del plan de cuentas con un número de dígitos determinado) están ahora presentes por defecto, de modo que parte del trabajo sencillamente consiste en mantener el código al día.

Estoy escribiendo también un artículo sobre el módulo de gestión de activos 'account_asset', pero lo tengo a medias. También hemos estado trabajando en un módulo de renumeración de asientos contables que será de utilidad para muchas empresas de cara al cierre de ejercicio.

Si todo lo anterior no parece mucho, me congratulo en anunciar nuestro primer curso de Formación Técnica sobre OpenERP, que tendrá lugar en Pamplona entre los días 24 y 28 de Noviembre. Si alguien está interesado todavía quedan algunas plazas. Me podeis contactar aquí mismo.

OpenERP 5.0.0-alpha is out...

The alpha version of the OpenERP 5.0.0 is now available for download !!

If you found bugs, please fill a bug report on launchpad.

Even this version is full of cool new features, there are a few to finish for the final version:

Better calendar view in the GTK client
Process review and improvement
Editable gantt charts
Bugfix in localisation of reports
Integration with the official documentations (books)
Auto-installer for OpenERP-Web-Client
Some small improvements that will be described later (keep an eye on the OpenERP planet)

Hi Folks!

The new major version of OpenERP contains a new installer for Windows

It checks if there is a previous installation of OpenERP

If there is a previous installation of PostgreSQL, does not overwrite the current installation

this installer comes with PostgreSQL 8.3

You can install only one instance of each component (Client, Server)

You will find three installers

Client Installer

Server Installer

All In One Installer : this version contains the client, the server (with all addons) and the PostgreSQL database

Open ERP 5.0 - CRM Focus

Hello,

Here is a small screencast that shows the improved CRM features of Open ERP 5.0. The CRM module comes with a configuration wizards that allows you to pre-configure the system automatically, asking you some questions so that it fits perfectly your needs.

As an example, the above screencast shows the use of the leads and opportunities. It start by showing a lead definition and creating a partner from this lead. From this partner, we schedule a meeting in the calendar.

After this, we come back to leads and generate an opportunity based on a lead. The wizard helps you to convert the lead and assign sales informations like the expected revenues. Then, we use the process management system to describe the flow of the selected opportunity.

After this, I connect through FTP to the document management system of Open ERP. The DMS has been connected to partners, so that I can browse partners by categories from the FTP access. You can browse any document of your system using this FTP connection. That's very useful to provide limited accesses to your customers to some documents of the system. It's automatically configured if you install the portal modules.

I finished by showing our new calendar synchronisation system that can be integrated with your mobile phone, outlook or any calendar system. In this example, I connected my meetings with Sunbird, the calendar of the Mozilla project.

About Medical - EMR for OpenERP

Since we published last week the development of Medical, we have received many emails asking us about the module.
We are very happy about the interest of the medical community even at this early stage !

This entry summarizes the main aspects of the module:

Medical is an EMR (Electronic Medical Record) module for OpenERP. It has most of the functionality to run in a doctor's office or institution.

Medical aims to be a 100% paperless way of practicing medicine.

The main functionality covers :

- Patient Administration (creation, history, follow-ups)
- Doctor Administration
- Lab Administration
- Medicine / Drugs information (vademécum)
- Medical stock and supply chain management ( including pharmaceuticals and drugs )
- Demographics and other statistical reports
- Financial Administration (Invoicing, ...).

The data model is designed in such a way that centralizes the information, so no duplication occurs.

On the other hand, medical optimizes collaboration and communication between health professionals. For example, a doctor may request an specific lab test for a patient, this is processed by the pathologist which diagnoses it and inputs the result on the system. The doctor now has all the analysis information linked to the patient chart.

Medical allows to attach documents (X-rays, Biopsy results, ... ) to the Patient chart.

Security :
It will follow the access control and security model of OpenERP 5.0

Internationalization :
The main language will be English, but it can be easily translated to any other language using OpenERP 5.0 module translation. The Spanish version will exist concurrently with the english version.
Medical will also allow different units of measures (UoMs) of an specific country, but it focus on industry standards.

Collaboration:
In the developmen of "medical", we are working side-by-side with doctors, so they provide their real life experience to make "Medical" the best EMR system. Of course, the more feedback and input we get from the medical community, the more complete the system will be, so please send us your suggestions to medical@thymbra.com .

Availability:
An alpha version should be available with the upcoming stable version of OpenERP 5.0

So as promised, this is the second post to give you some glimpse of one the most exciting new feature of upcoming version 5.0 of the web client, the View Editor. Which lets you change the view of any resource easily.

Let's see the view designer in action...

You can see, how easy it is to customize objects and their views. The changes made with the view editor will be saved for all users.

Additionally, in this upcoming major release, you will see some RAD tools included with the web client like Object Designer and Workflow Designer. With these tools, you can customize the OpenERP without writing a single line of code (more on this later)...ter

This is my First Blog for the new Developement for the Indian Accounting System. We have start Development for the Indian Accounting based on the General Requirements from the Partners. as part of that Thanks to Humanatics to propose such a good Accounting system for the Voucher Entry.

User will get the list of all voucher entries base don the voucher types, following are the list of types for the vouchers.

Voucher Entry system is very similar to the Tally Voucher Entry system, also you will get the same reports formats from the Tiny Voucher System.

Medical - Electronic Medical Record for OpenERP

At Thymbra we are proud to announce the development of an Electronic Medical Record - EMR - for OpenERP.

"medical" combines the versatility of OpenERP with the power of EMR.

Electronic Medical Record is a paperless way of keeping track of all the patients encounters / visits to the doctor. This way, any doctor can have the latest information about a patient, including Rx, allergies, current medications, surgeries, etc...

The medical module will include a Vademecum to update, which will allow the doctor to prescribe a specific medication to the patient from a current list.

Lastly, the medical module can also be used at hospitals and clinics. It will be able to invoice, make room reservations, inventory control, etc...

Latin America OpenERP Academy Anniversary

We are celebrating the first anniversary of the Thymbra OpenERP Academy in Latin America.

During this year, in Thymbra we have had people from all over Latin America. From Argentina and Uruguay to Spain, Ecuador and Venezuela.

The number of students is growing exponentially, proportionally to the interest and involvement of the Latin America community in OpenERP.

Since we started our partnership with Tiny in 2005, the number implementations and students just keeps growing.

When SAP meets Open ERP !

Last week, we went to the meeting Solutions ERP in Paris (CNIT, La Defense). It's the biggest meeting related to enterprise management software in France. It was a very big success, where we got about 200 customers requests in three days.

It was quite funny because the Open ERP booth was just near the SAP and the Cegid one. The following photo explains well the situation: during these three days, SAP salesman saw the back of the visitors, while they were looking at Open ERP :)

GLUD

GLUD is an acronym for "Grupo Linux de la Universidad Distrital". It's a free software user group in the Distrital University of Bogotá (Colombia). They celebrate a geek-week event called SLUD where conferences and workshops follow one another making any geek's delight with different topics around free software.

I was invited to give a talk and a workshop on OpenERP, so I accepted the invitation and flew to Colombia. At the same time I was also invited to talk to the students of the Valle University in Cali on the same topic. I had a wonderful time in Colombia totalling nearly 8 hours of talks about OpenERP.

I found a vibrant community and many interested people trying to find an alternative to the dominant solution in the colombian market: SAP Business One. I talked with many people about OpenERP and localization and I tried to show them that the first thing that has to be done is a proper colombian localization, and that this must be a community project. I really hope that the effort gets done and that in a few months we will have good improvements on the platform coming directly from the country of Juan Valdez ;)

GLUD son las siglas de Grupo Linux de la Universidad Distrital de Bogotá. Es el grupo de usuarios de software libre de dicha Universidad y periódicamente celebran una semana "geek" llamado SLUD, donde las conferencias y los talleres se suceden creando un entorno paradisíaco para cualquier geek con temas relacionados siempre con el software libre.

Fuí invitado a dar una charla y un taller sobre OpenERP, de modo que acepté la invitación y salí volando hacia Colombia. Simultáneamente fui invitado por la Universidad del Valle de Cali a hablar a los estudiantes sobre el mismo tema. En total 8 horas de charlas en Colombia hablando sobre OpenERP.

Encontré una comunidad vibrante y mucha gente interesada en encontrar una alternativa libre al principal producto en el mercado colombiano: SAP Business One. Hablé con mucha gente sobre OpenERP y sobre localización y traté de convencer a mis interlocutores de que lo primero que deben abordar es una buena adaptación para Colombia, y que ésta debe ser un trabajo de la comunidad. Espero que el trabajo que esto supone sea pronto realizado y que en pocos meses podamos ver buenas aportaciones provenientes del país de Juan Valdez ;)

So...

Tiny sprl asked all the contributors to their planet to post in english. This means that I will have to do double work: I will post in english and an spanish translation of the blog entries. This blog is devoted to using OpenERP in spanish or spanish speaking countries so it would create some frustration if the language were changed. So, from now on, entries on both languages. (By the way... the same day that I was politely requested to post in english, Fabien posted in french... ;) )

Tiny sprl. pidió hace unos días a quienes sindicamos nuestros blogs en su planet que lo hiciésemos en inglés. Esto significa el doble de trabajo: postear en inglés y traducir al castellano mis entradas. Este blog está dedicado al uso de OpenERP en castellano o en países que hablan español, y no me gustaría crear ningún tipo de frustración entre sus lectores, de modo que a partir de hoy, las entradas vendrán en ambos idiomas. (Por cierto... el mismo día que se me pidió que posteara en inglés, Fabien lanzó un post en francés.... ;) )
